Speedway Ride ‘n’ Slide Dayz is the UK’s first ever touring all inclusive Speedway Experience operator in the UK. We are planning to visit as many different speedway tracks in the UK as possible* to offer people the opportunity of experiencing the thrill of riding speedway without having the hassle and expense of sourcing their own equipment. We welcome all levels of ability, from riders who have ridden some form of motorcycle before to riders who have never even sat on a bike in their life! We want everyone to have a relaxed day and to enjoy themselves, which we hope to achieve by giving things that personal touch which is so often missing.
Our Experience Day is ultimately about you getting to feel the thrill of riding a 500cc Speedway bike with no brakes or gears on bona fide race circuit. Also we aim to get you to understand how to slide the bike and to learn how to handle a powerful machine remain fully in control. In addition you will be able to experience what it feels like to “gate” from the start line purely by dropping the clutch.

Russ has a wealth of experience in riding Speedway, he began riding at the age of 13 under the guidance of Bob Humphreys & his Elfield Park circuit in Milton Keynes. He then progressed to Hackney doing post meeting rides alongside Mark Loram a future world Champion, then moving on to regular second halves at Milton Keynes, Arena Essex, Hackney and Rye House before being signed for Arena Essex Juniors in 1985. Before deciding to hang up his leathers just 3 years later he had captained Arena Essex Juniors to the Speedway junior League Championship and also finished up being a losing finalist for Kings Lynn Juniors in the British Junior League Knock Out Cup.
He made a comeback to the sport in 1999 starting with amateur clubs before being signed for the newly opened Rye House Rockets the following year, then going back full circle he rejoined Arena Essex now known as Lakeside. In 2002 he was part of the consortium that re-opened Wimbledon and went on to be Team Manager later that first season. During this time Russ has dedicated a lot of effort and time into helping others develop in the sport in conjunction with the amateur clubs, he has run training days to give additional tuition to those riders who want to progress in the sport.
One of the riders that has benefitted from Russ being on hand to give advice is Adam Lowe – Nominated Rider of the Year 2010 for the Kings Lynn Young Stars Team.
Claire is the hinge pin behind the Speedway Ride ‘n’ Slide Dayz organisation, from enquiries and bookings to the signing on and kit administration on the day, she is a busy girl. Claire has grown up around bikes and spent her teenage years racing formula 3000 and definitely knows her way around a speedway bike. Claire has been the mechanic for Russ when he was racing and currently is involved with the maintenance and set up of the 38 bikes in the Speedway Ride ’n’ Slide Dayz business. Claire also rides a sports bike like Russ (but Claire’s is the Honda Baby Blade – as it’s the only one she can touch the floor on!).
